GFA President Kurt Okraku optimistic about Ghana football’s future despite setbacks

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has expressed strong optimism about the future of Ghanaian football, saying the sport remains on a promising path despite recent setbacks.

Addressing the media during a lively press soiree held on Tuesday night at the Gold Coast Restaurant in Accra, Mr. Okraku commended the Ghanaian press for their unwavering support, balanced reporting, and passion for the game.

The GFA President admitted that 2024 had been a testing year, particularly following the Black Stars failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

However, he noted that the teams qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico signalled a major turnaround and a renewed sense of belief.

Mr. Okraku also celebrated the achievements of other national teams, applauding the Black Queens for their third-place finish at the 2024 Womens Africa Cup of Nations and commending the Black Starlets for booking a spot at the 2026 Africa U-17 Championship a significant return to continental football for the youth side.

According to him, these milestones demonstrate resilience, progress, and the collective strength of Ghana football as it continues to rebuild towards a brighter future.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
